경희대학교 미술과(서양화)를 졸업하고, ADELPHI Graduate School, NY에서 Fine Arts(순수조형예술)를 전공하였다. 작가는 자연과 도시, 자연과 인간, 자연과 문명의 관계를 탐구하며 이를 드로잉과 회화로 풀어내고, 그 경계를 입체와 설치 영역으로 확장시킨다. 탈경계의 논리를 바탕으로 경험과 호흡을 축적하며 작업을 전개하며, 현실 공간 안에 비현실적 상황을 대입함으로써 정체된 현실에 새로운 숨결을 환기시키고자 한다. 15회의 개인전을 개최하였으며, 해외 아트페어와 특별전을 비롯해 부산비엔날레, 국립현대미술관 기획전, Fine Art Asia, 아르코미술관, 예술의전당 기획개인전, 서울시립미술관 등에서 100여 회의 그룹전에 참여하였다.
Ryu, ShinJung graduated from Kyung Hee University (Painting) and received an MFA in Fine Arts from Adelphi University, NY. Her work explores the relationships between nature and the city, nature and humanity, and nature and civilization. Beginning with drawing and painting, she expands these inquiries into sculptural and site-specific installations. Grounded in a logic of boundary-crossing, she constructs situations in which unreal elements intervene within real spaces, introducing new perceptual tension into familiar environments. She has held 15 solo exhibitions and participated in over 100 group exhibitions, including the Busan Biennale, National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMCA), Fine Art Asia, ARKO Art Center, Seoul Arts Center, and Seoul Museum of Art.
About Art Work
류신정의 작업은 현실 안에 비현실적 장면을 개입 시키며, 존재와 부재, 경계와 시간성의 감각을 드러낸다. 회화에서 출발한 형상은 설치와 영상으로 확장되며, 평면의 조형 언어는 공간 속 물리적 구조로 재구성 된다. 자연, DMZ, 인공 환경, 우주에 이르는 다양한 장소들은 작품이 작동하는 장이 된다. 색과 선, 빛과 공기는 그 안에서 관계를 이루며 공간의 흐름을 새롭게 조직한다. 작품은 고정되지 않으며, 환경과 긴장 속에서 반응하는 구조로 존재한다. 원초적인 인력에 의해 반복된 드로잉에서 비롯된 형상은 공간안에서 탄력성과 복원 성을 지닌 구조로 구현된다. 이는 단순한 이미지가 아니라 물리적 조건을 통과해 형성된 조형적·회화적 시스템이다. 작업은 그 안에서 스스로 호흡하며, 다양한 감각적 풍경을 생성한다.
.Ryu ShinJung’s work intervenes in real spaces with unreal scenes, revealing sensations of presence and absence, boundary and temporality. Forms that originate in painting expand into installation and video, and the compositional language of the flat surface is reconfigured as a physical structure within space. From nature and the DMZ to artificial environments and outer space, diverse sites become fields in which the work operates. Color, line, light, and air form relationships within these contexts, reorganizing the flow of space. The work does not exist as a fixed object, but as a responsive structure that reacts within environmental tension. Forms derived from repeated drawings, driven by a primal force, are realized as structures possessing elasticity and resilience in space. They are not mere images, but sculptural and painterly systems shaped through physical conditions. Within this framework, the work breathes on its own, generating layered sensory landscapes.
